Mackintosh LTC – Road to Wimbledon 2019 – Results

ROAD TO WIMBLEDON 2019 – RESULTS

A big well done to all 14 players who took part in our 14&U Road to Wimbledon competition on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May. Some fantastic matches played by all.

Congratulations to Oskar Gregory for winning the boys event beating Ben Aseeley in a really close match which finished 11-9 in a 3rd set tie-break.

Congratulations to Tilly Menin-Steere for winning the girls event with Celia Sklirou finishing as runner-up.

Best of luck to our players who will be representing the club in the South Wales County Finals.

Mackintosh LTC – Tennis Xpress course – starts Monday 3rd June

TENNIS XPRESS COURSE –
STARTS ON MONDAY 3RD JUNE

Calling all Adults,

Are you keen to learn a new sport? Perhaps you would like to be able to play tennis with your children. If you have never played tennis before, or haven’t played in a long time, then Tennis Xpress is for you. It is an easy and fun way for adult beginners to get into the game.
During the six week course you will be taught new skills and be shown how to serve, rally and score, so that by the end, you will be able to enjoy fun matches with your friends, family or other people you meet.

Mackintosh LTC – Tennis for Kids course – Monday 27th May – Saturday 1st June

TENNIS FOR KIDS COURSE –
MONDAY 27TH MAY – SATURDAY 1ST JUNE

Calling all parents with children 4-7 years keen to give tennis a try for the first time.

We are running a Tennis for Kids course at Mackintosh LTC from Monday 27th May to Saturday 1st June 9-10am each morning – Tennis for Kids is a fun starter course for kids aged between 4 and 11 who have never played tennis or have played very little before. Packed full of games and drills to get kids active, it also gives parents the chance to join in too.

Tennis for Kids includes six tennis sessions led by an accredited LTA coach, a racket and ball set, and a personalised t-shirt – all delivered for just £25 (+ £4.99 P&P).

Mackintosh LTC – 2019/20 Membership Renewals DUE

2019/20 Membership Renewals DUE


Calling all Members, Players, Parents and Prospective Members,

We hope you have enjoyed your year as a member at Mackintosh LTC. Membership fees for the 2019/20 year are due from 1st April 2019. To take advantage of the Early Bird Membership discount (save up to £30), please make payment by 30th April 2019.

We have great news that in September, major works will be undertaken at the club. Courts 1&2 will be resurfaced and Court 3 will be reconstructed, including the removal of the trees and bank. Internal fencing will also be renewed. The total cost for the project is around £82K. Unfortunately, during this time we will have limited access to courts 4&5 – we are currently investigating other facilities to ensure there are still opportunities for Coaching and Social hitting during this period.

This year we are delighted to be able to process all membership renewals online for the first time, using LTA software ClubSpark.

To renew your membership you will need to follow a few simple steps:
1. Click here (you will be redirected to our ClubSpark membership page)
2. Register / Log in to ClubSpark
3. Select your membership package
4. Make payment (there is an option to pay in full via Direct Debit, Credit/Debit Card, Cheque or Cash)

Following on from last year, we are keen to get more parents playing tennis at the club. We have got an option to join as a parent member for £50 – this entitles you to use the courts with your child on Saturdays after 3pm, all day on Sundays and during school holidays (when the courts are available).

Additionally, we are continuing our membership referral offer this year – if you refer a friend who joins as a FULL Individual Adult, you will receive a FREE 1/2 hour Individual Lesson or a Mackintosh LTC T-shirt.

Mackintosh LTC – 14&U Road to Wimbledon Competition 2019

14&U ROAD TO WIMBLEDON CHALLENGE

On Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May, we will be hosting our annual 14&U Road to Wimbledon Challenge at Mackintosh LTC. This event is open to all juniors aged 14 & under (born 1 Sept 2004 – 31 Aug 2008). We will be running both a Boys Singles and Girls Singles event. Entry costs £8 per player.

The runners-up and winners from the Mackintosh event will be invited to the County Finals, with the winners from the County Finals invited to compete in the National Finals at Wimbledon in August.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for all junior players to gain more experience playing matches.

Mackintosh LTC – Family Quorn Tennis Cup 2019

FAMILY QUORN TENNIS CUP – SATURDAY 30TH MARCH

On Saturday 30th March we will be running a Family Quorn Cup Red Ball event starting at 2:30pm at Mackintosh LTC. The event usually lasts approximately 2 hours (dependent on number of pairs taking part). This event is FREE for members to enter.

Who can play in the 2019 red ball event?
Any child born 1 September 2008 or later (10U) playing with an adult family member* born 31 August 2000 or earlier (18+).

* Adult family member – parent, carer, guardian, step parent, co-parent, uncle, auntie, sibling or grandparent.

The winners of each red ball competition will earn the opportunity of a day out at a Quorn Family Tennis Cup event held on the qualifying weekend of a LTA grass court major event in June. Each pair will have the chance to play against other winners on the day as well as watch the professional players in action.

During the Easter Holidays we will be running 2 weeks of tennis camps. The tennis camps are a fantastic way for your children to keep fit, have fun, improve their tennis and make new friends.

Week 1: Monday 15th – Thursday 18th April
Week 2: Tuesday 23rd – Friday 26th April

Sessions/Prices:
Mini Red (ages 4-8)   10-11am  
£22 members / £28 non-members (per week)
£6 members / £8 non-members (per day)

All Day (ages 8+)   11am-4pm 
£72 members / £90 non-members (per week)
£20 members / £25 non-members (per day)

Players will be grouped with others of a similar standard

The costs for Adults Tennis Camp will be as follows:
£10 members / £12 non-members (per day)
£24 members / £30 non-members (3 days)

Please note – only a limited number of places available for the tennis camps. Please book your place early to avoid disappointment.

Easystore Backs One of the UK’s Top Tennis Clubs

South Wales self storage firm Easystore has backed one of the country’s top tennis clubs in a sponsorship deal that helps the future of the sport in the Welsh capital.

Mackintosh LTC is based in the Roath area of Cardiff and will utilise the partnership to help reinvest in its facilities as well as support its senior teams, starting with an Open Day on Saturday 12th May.

Located in the heart of Roath, near the centre of Cardiff, the Mackintosh Sports Club has a very well established Lawn Tennis Club. Mackintosh Lawn Tennis Club recently named Tennis Wales Club of the Year for 2017 is one of the oldest tennis clubs in Wales and a founder member of the Welsh LTA. The club boasts a total of five outdoor floodlit hard macadam courts, and offers a comprehensive coaching and competitions programme catering for players of all ages and experience levels.

Mackintosh LTC – Great British Tennis Weekend 2018

On Saturday 12th May we will be hosting a Great British Tennis Weekend event at Mackintosh LTC. The event will run from 3-6pm and will include an afternoon of fun-filled tennis activities for all members of the family.

Mackintosh LTC was recently named Tennis Wales Club of the Year for 2017 and looks forward to welcoming new faces to the club.

On the day, there will be an opportunity to take part in taster sessions including Tots Tennis, Mini Tennis, Junior Tennis, Tennis Xpress, Cardio Tennis, plus much more.
