Mackintosh LTC – Easter Holiday Activities

We have a busy schedule of fun & exciting activities planned at Mackintosh Tennis Club this Easter.

Children’s Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday 26th March 3-4pm

The Easter Bunny will be making its annual trip to the club and needs lots of children to help search for all of the Easter eggs it’s dropped around the tennis courts and other parts of the club. Suitable for all children aged 8 and under (younger brothers and sisters welcome too). Cost: £5 per child. Each child will get an Easter Egg to take home afterwards. Easter Holiday Tennis Camps

Our ever popular Easter Holiday Tennis Camps will be running for 2 weeks during the school holidays. The Camps will run on the following dates:

Week 1 – Tuesday 29th March-Friday 1st April

Week 2 – Monday 4th April-Friday 8th April

Mini Red (ages 4-8 years) – 10-11am

Week 1 – £20 members/£25 non-members (4 days)

Week 2 – £25 members/£30 non-members (5 days)

Per Day – £5 members/£7 non-members

All Day (ages 8+) – 11am-4pm

Week 1 – £60 members/£75 non-members (4 days)

Week 2 – £70 members/£90 non-members (5 days)

Per Day – £18 members/£23 non-members

Wrap around care also available at an additional cost from 8:30am-6pm for children attending the All Day Tennis Camp. Wrap around care will include fun, games, arts, crafts and snacks – supervised by a qualified Primary School teacher

This will be a fun day out for all of the family. The day will include loads of FREE taster sessions, lots of fun, games, competitions and challenges for every member of the family. Mackintosh Bowls Club are celebrating their 125th Anniversary this year. The Bowls Club are holding an Open Day on Saturday 16th April with new players welcome to come along for the day.

Mackintosh LTC – Wimbledon Ticket Ballot 2016

Calling all members,

Would you be interested in going to watch the tennis at Wimbledon this year? Having been on a number of occasions myself, I can thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone who has never been before.

This is an urgent request for all members who haven’t already done so to Opt-In for the Wimbledon Ticket Ballot 2016. The deadline for opting-in is Friday 19th February.

Last year we had an excellent allocation of 16 pairs of tickets distributed amongst our members for the Championships. At present, we will be allocated significantly fewer pairs of tickets than last year due to the low number of members who have opted-in. Even if you are not interested in going to Wimbledon this year, we would be extremely grateful if you could opt-in – this will help gain a bigger allocation of tickets for the club and in turn improve the chances of others gaining tickets.

Mackintosh LTC – Mixed Singles Handicap Tournament 2016

Following the success of last years inaugural Mixed Singles Handicap Tournament, we have decided to run this event again this year. This is a great event as the handicap system gives everyone an equal opportunity of doing well. Last years Champion was Ali Alkamil – who will be crowned the 2016 Mixed Singles Handicap Champion.

The event is open to all adults and stronger juniors at the club – there will also be a few of the clubs coaches playing. Could you cause an upset and beat one of the coaches?

We are excited to announce we have got a busy schedule of activities planned for February Half Term.

Tennis Camps

On Monday 15th – Wednesday 17th February we will be running tennis camps for children of all ages and abilties:

10-11am – Mini Red (ages 4-8)

11am-4pm – All Day (ages 8+)

Mackintosh LTC – Indoor Tennis 2016

We are excited to announce that from January 2016 we will be expanding our current coaching programme by running indoor tennis sessions at Cardiff Central Youth Club (formerly the Welsh National Tennis Centre).

The sessions will be piloted during the first half term of the Spring Term. There will be weekly children’s coaching starting on Sunday 10th January. The sessions will run as follows:

Mini Red (ages 4-8) 2-3pm
Mini Orange (ages 7-9) 2-3pm
Mini Green (ages 9-11) 3-4pm
Junior (ages 11+) 3-4pm

We are also hoping to run an Adults Social Tennis session every Wednesday 8:30-10pm, starting from Wednesday 13th January – watch this space for further details.

There are only a limited number of places available for the indoor sessions – players who currently attend separate sessions at Mackintosh LTC will be given priority for the places.

Mackintosh LTC – Junior Club Championships 2015

From Monday 17th August to Friday 21st August we held our annual Junior Club Championships. Despite a number of players being away on holidays for the Championships there were some excellent matches. Unfortunately some poor weather meant we had to cancel the 16&U Girls Singles, however we are planning to run this event in the next few weeks.

The winners and runners-up from the Junior Championships were as follows:

8&U Singles (Mini Red):

Mackintosh LTC – Club Championships 2015 – Finals Day

It has been another successful Summer of tennis at Mackintosh LTC with the 2015 Adult Club Championships recently coming to a close.

Despite the number of entries being slightly down from last year, the standard of tennis has certainly made up for it with all players showing huge improvements from last year. It was great to see new players competing in the Club Championships for the very first time, it was also fantastic to see some of the Junior players giving some of the adults a run for their money.

The Adult Club Championships Finals took place on Saturday 15th August. We were once again lucky to have fantastic weather for the 7 finals taking place on the day. Pictured below are all of the 2015 Adult Club Championships Finalist

A huge thanks to everyone who came along and made Finals Day another memorable occasion at the club. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this years Club Championships and hope you are all motivated to improve even more before next years event.
