Our club committee meet every 2 months to discuss the running of the club and how we can improve the overall club experience for our members.
Our committee members and their roles are as follows:
Club Welfare Officer – Mike Pickerill
Favourite tennis player: Venus Williams
Favourite Mack Memory: Too many to mention including every Mack Tour and all the presentation evenings. The best memory was the men’s doubles match on the show court at Lew Hoad Tennis Club. Some great support watching us all.
Team: Men’s Second and Third Teams.
Mike has been a member of the Mackintosh Tennis Club since moving to Cardiff in 2017. Mike attends Social Tennis, Men’s Tennis evening and Cardio Tennis, plus has been regularly playing in the Annual Handicap Tournament and Club Championships. Mike is also a Captain for one of the Men’s Tennis teams, playing regularly in the Winter and Summer league.
Outside of the club, Mike is a qualified Social Worker, specialising in Child Protection and has worked both in London and in South Wales. He currently works as a Senior Social Work Practitioner and has been qualified for 7 years. Mike’s hobbies outside of tennis include cooking, baking and reading.
Club Chairperson – Steve Nagle
Steve joined Mackintosh in 2019 – quickly finding his second home & family at ‘the Mack’.

Team: Men’s Fourth Team
Professionally Steve is a keen baker and has created his own baking business. He has also worked in administration management since 2003 in schools in Cardiff and London. Steve currently works as a PA at Cardiff university.
Head Coach – Rhys Morgan
Favourite player: Andy Murray
Favourite Mack Memory: Representing the Mack at the British Nationals CLub Final and playing against Joe Salisbury – I didn’t win many points but what an experience!
Team: Men’s First Team
In addition to his role as Head Coach, Rhys also has a number of other roles in the day-to-day running of the club including: Captaining a number of Adult & Junior teams, Competition Organiser & Referee, Match/Fixtures Secretary, Facility Project Manager and Website Editor.
Outside of the club, Rhys has a huge passion for watching and playing a wide range of sports, and he also enjoys reading.
Club Secretary & Ladies Club Captain – Emma Morgan
Favourite player: Andy Murray
Favourite Mack Memory: Too many to name, but maybe winning the Mack Club Champs and World Cup. Mack tours are always great fun too with lots of memories made.
Team: Ladies’ First Team
Emma is a new mum, tennis coach an primary school teacher. Emma has been the Club Secretary since 2018, and has been the Ladies Club Captain since 2013 – when Emma took on the responsibility of captaining & running our Ladies team in 2013. It was a challenge to get enough players together to field a team and quite often some of our players barely knew the rules. Fast forward to 2021, and the Ladies section is now thriving with over 30 Ladies regularly attending Team Practice nights, and 3 teams playing in the South Wales leagues – a great deal of this success is a product of Emma’s hard work and enthusiasm over the years.
Outside of the club, Emma is a qualified Primary School teacher and enjoys shopping and travelling in her spare time.
Alex – Competitions

Alex is a software developer and tennis coach.
Men’s Club Captain – Nick Johnson

Team: Men’s First and Second Teams
Nick has been a member of the Mackintosh Tennis Club since 2016. As Men’s Club Captain he is passionate about representing the views of the players and their development within the club as well as supporting the Men’s teams in all its competitions. Nick captains the Men’s 2nd team in the Summer league and the 1st team in the Winter. By day, Nick is a physiotherapist.
Treasurer – Vacant position
Currently being overseen by Emma Morgan and Steve Nagle.
Mackintosh Club Treasurer – Paul Daley
Known as “Mr Mackintosh” for years, Paul has been integral to the running of the club for over 50 years. In more recent years, Paul has helped to manage the development of the new building, managed the Club Steward and co-managed facility projects to enable two new courts to be laid, and the resurfacing of the other 3 courts. Without Paul’s hard work and dedication over the years the club wouldn’t be as it is today.

Favourite Mack Memory: Tour ’22 – particularly playing a pair from Grimsby. Great match and so much fun.

Grounds & Maintenance Officer – Ben Barker
Favourite tennis player: ANdy Roddick
Favourite Mack Memory: Aside from one particular lockdown meme, being unavle to account for hours of my life lost in the former pool room in the bar.

By day, Ben is a gardener, and as the clubs Grounds & Maintenance Officer ensures the clubs grounds and facilities are and maintained to a high standard.

Favorite Mack Memory: Tennis Tour 2022 – Cam probably played fewer than three hours of tennis the whole week! That, and a few of the away trips with tennis have been a great laugh.

Ben is a second year student at Swansea university studying Psychology.
